Eintracht Frankfurt are not expecting any bid from Newcastle United for star Filip Kostic, despite reports to the contrary.
Kostic has been one of the ever-growing list of players linked with a move to Newcastle over the last week following their takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
SportBILD claimed that the Magpies were willing to come ‘knocking heavily’ on Frankfurt’s door and turn Kostic’s head with a million-dollar salary.
According to Sport 1’s information, though, that is not the case. Indeed, the German club don’t think that’s going to happen.
They don’t expect any ‘transfer hullabaloo’ during the January transfer window after a summer of several clubs chasing Kostic’s signature.
Kostic ended up being left out of training because of that, but tempers have ‘calmed down’ since then, and all parties are concentrating on football at this moment in time.
That’s why there are no ‘intensive’ talks about a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2023 but no concerns in that department.
In fact, Kostic has recently parted ways with his agent, which is felt was a ‘clear statement’ about his future for the time being.
A departure to Newcastle, then, is currently ‘not an issue’ at all, particularly in the January transfer window.
