In case Arsenal will continue with their chase for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande, Portuguese newspaper Record today brings interesting news on his future.
The outlet features a page-long piece about the player’s renewal with the Lions. They’re set to pay his former club FC Midtjylland some performance bonuses and reward his great first year in Lisbon with a new deal.
Sporting are also thinking about the interest he’s been drawing from other clubs, though, and that’s where Arsenal come in.
It’s recalled that the Gunners tried to sign Diomande with a €35m bid in the summer, and the Lions are getting ready to resist in the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Newcastle also following the player.
Now in case Arsenal try at the end of the season, it seems there’s a better chance of them getting their man.
It’s written that Sporting are ‘not closing the door’ to a potential exit in the summer of 2024.
The big question is how much they will be demanding by then, as Diomande is currently protected by a €80m release clause, but is valued by Transfermarkt at €25m.
