Napoli continue to monitor Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traoré ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Spaniard will leave Molineux at the end of the season, but his wages remain an issue.

They explain that Traoré remains in Napoli’s plans as they look to bolster their squad this summer ahead of their effort to defend the Serie A title next season.

He’s set to be available on a free transfer when his contract with Wolves comes to an end and has been on their radar as a potential low-cost option to add to their squad for several months.

Despite that ‘long courtship’, though, he may never end up in Naples as he is currently asking for €5m per season in wages.

That figure is almost certainly after tax.

Such an amount is ‘too much’ for Napoli president, who ‘has no intention’ of giving that type of salary to the Wolves player at any point.

Why that is the case isn’t mentioned but the Napoli president is known to hold a tight leash on things in that regard and has been on a cost cutting exercise in recent years too, hence big-name departures to get wages off the books.

It seems he is determined to continue on that front and isn’t willing to deviate from his plans to get Traoré, who will have to lower his demands if he wishes to join Napoli when he leaves Wolves in the summer.
