With Bayern Munich adding a bit more pressure in their bid to try and sign Matthijs De Ligt, Juventus are starting to look around for a replacement a bit more seriously.
This is what journalist Alfredo Pedulla hints at on Sunday evening when looking at who could potentially take over from the Dutchman should he leave for Bavaria.
As has been touted a fair bit in the past, Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães is one of the players being looked at, and a first move appears to have been made.
The Italian reporter took to his website to divulge the news, explaining that with Gleison Bremer seemingly ‘betrothed to Inter’, there were ‘new contacts’ with the Gunners regarding their Brazilian defender during the day on Sunday.
Benoït Badiashile and Nikola Milenković are also on their list, but the latter is not ‘considered a substitute for De Ligt’.
As for Arsenal, they are ‘asking for around €40m for Gabriel’, although Juventus are ‘confident they can snatch a discount’.
The 24-year-old was a key part of Mikel Arteta’s plans last season, featured 35 times in the Premier League, scoring five goals along the way.
It remains to be seen how actually willing Arsenal would be to part ways with the centre-back, especially with an upcoming campaign that will include Europa League football, meaning more squad depth will be needed.
