With AS Roma’s Alisson seemingly becoming embroiled in a Real Madrid transfer hole, Liverpool appear to have moved on from the Brazilian goalkeeper to Gianluigi Donnarumma, AC Milan’s shot stopping prodigy.
Having already secured the arrival of Pepe Reina from Napoli on a free, the Serie A side wouldn’t be against the sale of their starlet if the right offer arrived, as Mino Raiola pushes for his client’s exit.
Now that Paris Saint-Germain look set to bring in the other Gianluigi (Buffon) from Juventus on a free, they have all but dropped out from the race, leaving Liverpool with relatively little competition to sign Donnarumma.
However, if Corriere dello Sport are to be believed, they aren’t going to get him with their first offer.
The Italian newspaper claim the Reds are ready to bid around £35m for the 19-year-old, which equates to about €40m, which is considerably lower than AC Milan’s valuation.
Corriere explain the Serie A side want around €70m for Donnarumma in a market where Jan Oblak could go for around €100m if someone triggered his release clause.
But, and it’s a positive one for Liverpool, the Italian outlet report Milan could meet the Premier League side in the middle, at around €55m.
As for why Liverpool want the youngster so badly, they state Loris Karius isn’t considered ‘trustworthy’ enough by Jürgen Klopp, as his ‘basic mistakes’ all too often cancel out his ‘heroics’.
So, according to Corriere dello Sport, Gianluigi Donnarumma can be bought for €55m.
For a club who aren’t swimming in spending money these days, it’s not a bad amount, and would still make Donnarumma the most expensive goalkeeper of all time, for like five days or something.
