Barcelona have met with Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka to discuss a possible move to the club.
That’s according to ‘Què T’hi Jugues’, relayed by Sport, who say both Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff met with the highly-rated youngster’s agent.
They explain that signing the highly-rated midfielder is ‘out of the question’ for the Catalan club as they cannot afford him, but the interest is there.
He is one of the names they are looking at to reinforce their midfield, and this led to them meeting his agent on Tuesday to discuss a possible move.
Aston Villa remain confident they can keep him, and Steven Gerrard has admitted as much, but there are a number of teams interested in him, and Barcelona are one of them.
That could change in the coming months if they are able to move players on from the current squad, which will free up funds to bring players into the Camp Nou.
However, at the moment, the finances aren’t there to get a deal done, so these talks were only exploratory ones at best.
He’s a name to keep an eye on over the next few months, though, with clubs lining up to steal him away from Aston Villa if they can’t get him signed to a new deal.
