The race for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez continues with full force among European sides. With the player’s contract with the Tigers expiring later this month, he’s able to join any club on a free transfer.
Italian website Calcio Mercato brings an update on the situation today, claiming that Galatasaray have just taken important steps in the race for the Uruguayan, pushing ahead of clubs including Celtic and Wolves.
According to the website, the Turkish side has been in talks with the player’s entourage in the last hours, and now have him as a ‘concrete option’ for the summer window.
The report recalls that Hernandez has been linked to other clubs in the past few weeks, including the likes of Fiorentina, Torino, Celtic and Wolves. Those are the ones named today but there’s been a whole raft of others, with the player’s agent never scared to push the idea of interest in his client.
Nuno Espirito Santo and Brendan Rodgers are experienced enough to be well aware of the situation surrounding Hernandez and won’t be pulled into any games.
It’s still not clear if Galatasaray have made a better offer than the other interested sides, but these talks make them serious contenders to get the player from Hull City on a free at the start of July.
