As things stand, football everywhere in the major five leagues is on hold, and that includes the Bundesliga.

For the likes of Bayern Munich, it might not mean much, but for a club like Borussia Mönchengladbach, the pause in revenue could prove costly in the summer.

That’s why Bild are reporting on Monday the club could be forced to sell one of their stars earlier than expected in Denis Zakaria, with Manchester United or Liverpool able to profit from this.

It’s no secret the Swiss midfielder has attracted a lot of attention this season with his performances under Marco Rose, and there were rumours during the transfer window regarding a move to either Old Trafford or Anfield.

Those never materialised into anything concrete, as Gladbach didn’t have to sell, but with a potential loss of revenue of around €35m if the season is cancelled, then things could change.

It’s stated clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool would still be able to pay ‘high fees’ in the summer, and it’s that kind of income the Bundesliga side might ‘urgently need’ if the season doesn’t resume at a later date.

Just a few days ago, it was reported the Red Devils were ‘showing great interest’ in the 22-year-old.
