Pape Matar Sarr came off the bench in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on January 1st.
It was the midfielder’s first outing for the north London club since he joined them from Metz 18 months ago.
Prior to this, the 20-year-old was linked with a move away from Tottenham. A week ago, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Salernitana hope to strike a deal with Spurs to sign him.
Il Mattino state Salernitana manager Davide Nicola is waiting for a new midfielder and the Senegal international is the ‘extra luxury dream’.
Morgan De Sanctis, the Serie A side’s sporting director, is pushing to sign him in the winter market.
The efforts put in by De Sanctis to bring the Spurs player to the club is further detailed by Tutto Salernitana.
It’s claimed Salernitana are making a ‘new attempt’ to sign Pape Matar Sarr and their chief has ‘restarted contacts’ with Antonio Conte’s side, while the player seems to be fascinated with the idea of playing in Serie A.
It won’t be a simple operation because the competition is fierce, but Salernitana will try to sign the Tottenham midfielder in January.
