Europa League champions Villarreal are continuing their efforts to sign Bournemouth star Arnaut Danjuma despite seeing a first bid rejected.
That’s according to SuperDeporte, who say the Cherries man is the Spanish side’s ‘main target’ in this transfer window.
The newspaper reports that Villarreal are keen to sign Danjuma this summer and have already made a €15m offer to Bournemouth for him.
That was swiftly rejected by the Championship side, and the transfer is ‘not expected to be an easy operation’ for Villarreal to pull off.
It’s explained that this summer is not proving to be an easy one for the Europa League winners as COVID has complicated matters considerably.
They had wanted to sign Goncalo Guedes from Valencia, but he is out of their price range, so they have turned their attention to Bournemouth’s Danjuma instead, and he is their ‘first option’.
They are planning a second offer after their initial €15m bid was rejected, but if Bournemouth continue to resist, they will turn their attention elsewhere.
Indeed, they already have a backup in mind in the form of Schalke’s Amine Harit, who would be cheaper after their relegation from the Bundesliga.
