Adama Traore has barely completed his loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Barcelona, and the Catalan side are already making it clear that their intention is to buy him.
The La Liga giants signed the winger on a six-month spell, obviously impacted by their current financial crisis, which stopped them from going for big signings in January.
Now speaking to the Spanish media, club president Joan Laporta confirms that the intention is to make Traore’s move permanent as soon as they can.
“Adama is on loan until the end of the season but Barça’s will is to exercise the purchase option“, said Laporta (via Gerard Romero).
Another quote from Laporta, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, has him saying: “It is a free option, not mandatory, for both parties. There are fixed amounts and at the end of the season we will sit down with Adama and his representatives and I want this option to be exercised.”
According to reports from Spain, Barcelona can buy Traore for only €20m.
The winger had spent years at Barça’s academy, and when going back to the club, couldn’t hide the excitement of having the chance of proving himself there again.
Traore joined Wolves on a €20m move from Middlesbrough in 2018, and in his year at the Molineux, he had 11 goals and 18 assists in 154 appearances.
Due to his little playing time under Bruno Lage, the club chose to let him go in the middle of the season.
