De Telegraaf reported on Monday that Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt has emerged as a transfer target for PSV Eindhoven.
It was explained Roy Hodgson’s side need a better offer to let the left-back leave this month, but no figures were mentioned.
Steven Bergwijn is edging closer towards a move to Tottenham Hotspur and his sale would help the Eredivisie side sign the Eagles defender.
Eindhoven Dagblad now explains the Dutch club made an offer in excess of €7m for the 29-year-old and the player ‘really wants to go’ to PSV.
However, Palace are demanding more than €10m and before sanctioning Van Aanholt’s sale, they want to bring in a replacement. The London club’s idea is to get more for the fullback, which is why they haven’t said ‘yes’ to PSV.
Van Aanholt’s agent will meet all parties today and he hopes to hear whether or not Crystal Palace want to cooperate for his client’s transfer.
PSV want a response in the next 24 hours and failure to sign Van Aanholt will see them shift their focus back to AC Milan’s Ricardo Rodríguez.
