It may not be too much of an exaggeration to say that when it comes to transfers, no player has been the subject of more claims in Italy over the past year than Emerson Palmieri.
The Chelsea player has been linked with around half of Serie A, and those claims come on a daily basis. With a contract expiring at Stamford Bridge in June 2022, the player’s situation is difficult for Italian clubs.
As seems to always be the case, Serie A sides would prefer a loan deal, yet that makes little sense for Chelsea. There’s been conflicting reports on whether the Premier League club would consider offering him a new contract in order to facilitate a loan move this summer.
Spazio Napoli quote him as saying: “I know that Napoli made an offer to Chelsea. Spalletti contacted the player and found fertile ground, the Napoli prospect interests the player. Surely the profile is interesting, but now there is some competition from Roma because he is one of the players that Mourinho has indicated as a replacement for Spinazzola.”
Luciano Spalletti is currently manager at Napoli, and whilst a move there may be attractive for Emerson, there’s no indication of what the offer involved, or even whether it was for a loan or permanent deal.
