Already linked to a couple of clubs over the past few months, Watford fullback Kiko Femenia now seems to have another potential destination in Spain, and the move could have an impact on Arsenal.
According to a story from El Periodico Meditarraneo today, Villarreal are interested in the 31-year-old, as they look to reinforce their right-back position.
The article claims the La Liga side wouldn’t spend a lot to land Femenia. It’s said they’d pay Watford ‘a small amount’, ‘that wouldn’t reach a million euros’, to get the signing done.
Villarreal had already been interested in the player in the past few seasons, and since they’re looking to release Mario Gaspar from their squad this summer, that opens a spot for the Hornets player. It’s said he could sign a ‘two or three’ year contract with the Spanish club.
In the past few months, Femenia had already been linked to Almeria and Italian side Udinese. If it’s true there are multiple clubs coming after him, perhaps that’s a good argument for Watford to raise their demands and make more from his sale.
Villarreal have also been linked to Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who is very keen on a return to Real Betis. The Gunners have been reluctant to agree a cut price move to Betis, because of the Villarreal interest.
Bellerin and Femenia are represented by the same agents, and it was earlier suggested by Estadio Deportivo they could send the latter to Villarreal and, in the process, make a Betis move easier for the Arsenal player.
