Club looking to ‘optimise’ squad with versatile Crystal Palace player before transfer deadline

The end of the European transfer window is today, which means numerous players are scrambling around to get themselves a last-minute move.

One who could be about to get his transfer is Jairo Riedewald. The 22-year-old is out of favour at Crystal Palace and only made four appearances for the club last season, in the FA Cup and EFL Cup respectively.

He could now be offered his chance out of Selhurst Park with Kicker reporting Paderborn are keen on the Eagles outcast.

The German side secured promotion back to the Bundesliga this year with a second-place finish in the 2. Bundesliga last season, and they’re now looking to add to their squad before today’s deadline as they seek to avoid relegation, identifying Riedewald as a player they think will improve their options.

Kicker say they view the defender, who can also play in defensive midfield, as a ‘defensive all-rounder’ and a player who can ‘optimise’ the squad.

They are looking to secure a loan deal for the Dutchman, although there’s no mention of the financial aspects of any potential agreement at this point.
