Another day, another article in the Italian media about Antonio Conte’s desire to sign N’Golo Kanté from Chelsea.
It’s Gazzetta dello Sport who go with it on Friday, explaining how the situation around Christian Eriksen could impact a potential move for the Frenchman.
Conte ‘continues to have his sight set’ on the Chelsea midfielder, and Inter, before they make any kind of move for Kanté, have to get rid of the Dane.
Gazzetta state the Serie A side ‘need exits, like Eriksen’s, to find the resources’ required to convince the Blues to sell their star, but that’s easier said than done.
Following some rather disappointing performances since his arrival from Tottenham, the Denmark international doesn’t really have a market other than perhaps a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The French side have always liked what Eriksen has to offer, and there’s now talk of a potential trade between the two clubs, with Leandro Paredes going the other way.
Should that happen, it would likely put an end to the Kanté rumours, since he would fill the role Conte wants plugged, but we all know that’s not what the Italian really wants.
That would be him settling at best, such is the gap in quality between the two players.
