Monday’s edition of L’Equipe has something of a transfer special, mainly focusing on players who could be sold by Ligue 1 clubs this summer.
One of those clubs set for sales is Marseille, and their financial situation could dictate that they need to let more than one of their key players go this summer.
Of the ‘assets’ Marseille currently have available to sell, Morgan Sanson is one of the most marketable, as far the French media have had it for the past year or so.
Today, L’Equipe state Everton and Aston Villa are keen, with both Premier League clubs said to be following the midfielder’s situation.
Everton have repeatedly been linked with the player before, and there’s even been claims of offers around €40m from English clubs. Wolves have been linked too, but don’t get a mention today.
The advantage here would clearly be with Everton, given their position in the league and ambitious project for the future. Still, that doesn’t mean the Toffees will part with a fee big enough to please Marseille.
That would be even less likely for Aston Villa, and there’s going to have to be work done by agents to find Sanson a move he’d like, and also Marseille the money they’d require.
