According to a claim in the Italian media, Fiorentina are trying to tie Giovanni Simeone down to the club.
The Argentine has been linked with other clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be a possible destination for the young forward.
Calciomercato today report Fiorentina are looking to extend Simeone’s current deal by another season by offering the player a bumper pay rise. The Serie A side are prepared to give the 23 year old €2m after tax, plus bonuses, but as yet an agreement hasn’t been reached.
The Italian outlet say Fiorentina want to get a deal done soon as they are expecting top clubs to come in for him next summer, with Tottenham reported to be one of those keen on the attacker.
Spurs are said to be ‘thinking about’ signing the player.
However, it’s likely these links to Tottenham first circulated in the English press before being picked up in Italy.
It’s claimed Simeone is open to signing a new deal with the Viola, but on the condition they listen to any serious offers that come in from top European clubs, giving the likes of Tottenham hope.
