While some reports have suggested Justin Kluivert’s move to Fulham has been called off, there are others who believe there is still hope.
Either way, the reason behind the hold up in all this has been the work permit issue, with the Dutchman being refused one.
That’s a big problem for Fulham, who need him to have one so he can feature for them in the Premier League and register him in their squad.
Calciomercato look at what happen after it was revealed that the Craven Cottage side had reached an agreement with AS Roma over a loan with an obligation to buy at €9.5m.
It’s said that when the Serie A side learned the news about the work permit following their 3-0 win over Monza, they were left ‘speechless’.
The belief was that everything was sorted, as Fulham had even anticipated a potential problem by asking Roma ‘for a letter, to be sent to the English authorities, in which they explained why Kluivert had not been in Mourinho’s group for a mew months’.
The Italian side were happy to do so, explaining that an injury had led to the decision to ‘train him with other members to preserve him in view of the current transfer market’.
Said letter ‘had been delivered in recent days and everything had gone well’, which is why the player travelled to London for his medical.
Then, the ‘cold shower’, as Fulham are now ‘trying to understand whether or not there is room to obtain a work permit’, which falls in line with what Gianluca Di Marzio reported, claiming they were waiting for the FA’s explanation.
Regarding that, Calciomercato add the English governing football body ‘doesn’t seem willing to talk’.
Regardless, time is running out for Fulham, who might be better off looking elsewhere to add to Marco Silva’s attack.
