Throughout this transfer window, the most significant deals that could happen were Neymar and Paul Pogba.
The Brazilian wants a return to the Nou Camp, and Real Madrid want Pogba. Neither looks like happening, though, and that means other players are left in limbo.
In the case of Pogba, one of those affected is Christian Eriksen. The Tottenham midfielder made it clear after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool he may fancy a move this summer and has been linked with Real Madrid as a result.
The speculation has been Madrid see Eriksen as an alternative to Pogba and earlier this week we covered reports that suggested they could get him quickly if they wanted to.
Zinedine Zidane isn’t keen, though, and so a move hasn’t happened. Both AS and Marca cover the Pogba situation today and refer to Eriksen.
Marca say the Tottenham star remains ‘on the table’ for Madrid and nobody at the club is ruling out anything happening
AS back that up and say, Eriksen, as well as Donny van de Beek were on the table, but Zidane just wasn’t interested in either player.
That’s left both players in ‘limbo’. They’re aware of Madrid’s interest, but their situations are not progressing how they would like.
So in conclusion, there’s every chance a move could happen, but at this moment in time, it’s looking improbable.
Madrid’s official line is nothing will happen, but as we’ve seen in the past, that can change when deadline day looms large.
