Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that Romelu Lukaku’s lawyer would be meeting with Inter to talk about a possible return to the club.

The Chelsea striker isn’t happy with how things are going at Stamford Bridge, which has led to the idea of a comeback to Serie A to make headline news in Italy.

Any deal involving the Belgian would be incredibly complicated for the Italian club to pull off, which is why this meeting was important to see how feasible it all was.

Calciomercato now reveal said encounter has taken place, and describe it as a ‘starting point that will generate many straight lines’.

It’s stated that Beppe Marotta ‘met the lawyer Sébastien Ledure this morning at 10’ for a brief coffee, where they ‘defined a plan’, as they know that Lukaku is ‘willing to do anything’ to leave Chelsea and go back to the San Siro club.

As explained in previous reports, the best way to do that would be to ensure the deal is completed in the same fiscal year he left in, meaning it all needs to be done ‘by the end of June’.

Ledure is now ‘clear on the next steps’, with his ‘next plane ticket’ expected to be towards London, where he will ‘start talking to Chelsea’.

The expectation is that ‘it will be a long month’, but the ‘exciting ping pong’ officially began this morning with this meeting.
