Barcelona have are keen on Leeds United’s Raphinha and this has been continuously mentioned in the Spanish press over the past two months.
The La Liga side’s hope of securing the winger’s services suffered a blow when the Whites sealed a 2-1 win over Brentford on Sunday. The result means they finish the 2021/22 season in the 17th spot and avoid relegation from the top division.
Xavi Hernández’s side could have tried to sign Raphinha for €25-30m if Leeds United were to drop to the second division.
Earlier on Monday, both Sport and Mundo Deportivo reported that Leeds United’s stay in the Premier League will make it ‘difficult’ for Barca to land the 25-year-old.
It was also explained that the Brazil international’s ‘great dream’ is to make a switch to the Camp Nou and he wants to find out as soon as possible whether Jesse Marsch’s side will let him leave Elland Road this summer.
Marca also have a report on the Leeds United player. It’s claimed the Catalan club have scheduled a meeting with Ousmane Dembélé and they want to know whether the French winger will accept their renewal proposal. His contract expires on June 30th.
If Dembélé rejects their offer, then the Spanish giants will ‘launch for the incorporation’ of Raphinha.
The Whites’ continuity in the top division means the South American will no longer be available for a reasonable fee.
Therefore, Marca explain that Barcelona executives ‘have to sit down to negotiate’ with the Leeds board if they want to acquire the former Rennes man’s services.
