On Saturday, Marca reported Atlético Madrid have made a request to Tottenham Hotspur for Sergio Reguilón.

Nottingham Forest are set to sign Renan Lodi on loan and his impending exit has seen the La Liga side look for a replacement.

This is where the Tottenham player comes into the picture and Los Rojiblancos have made an approach to the north London club.

AS on Sunday states Diego Simeone’s side held talks with Spurs a few days ago for the Spain international and the deal is now ‘heating up’. The former Real Madrid man has been left out of Antonio Conte’s plans.

With the acceleration for the deal to take Lodi to Nottingham Forest, the newspaper states that Atlético, down their end, have ‘intensified’ talks with Tottenham to sign Reguilón.

AS makes it clear the Spurs fullback is not the only option for the Madrid club, but he is the ‘preferred and closest option’ for Simeone’s side.

Lodi’s departure from the Metropolitano would open the door for Reguilón to join Atlético, if they can find an agreement with Spurs for his signing.
