Atlético Madrid are willing to make a bid for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, with the Portuguese star likely to leave as a result of Jack Grealish’s imminent arrival.
Grealish could finalise a move to the Etihad as early as this weekend, with Manchester City closing in on a £100m move for the Aston Villa star.
That, say Mundo Deportivo, will create a ‘domino effect’ with several current City stars likely to leave as a result.
Bernardo Silva is one of them, and he had been discussed as part of recent negotiations with Barcelona, but they cannot afford him at this moment in time.
That works to the benefit of Atlético Madrid and Diego Simeone, who both like the midfielder and ‘would be willing’ to make a bid for him.
MD say that Silva has ‘set his sights’ on playing in La Liga if he is to leave the Premier League. He is ‘very attracted’ to Spanish football and has always wanted to play for Barcelona.
They’re unlikely to be available, though, so he is also ‘attracted’ to Atlético, who ‘insist’ on him, especially since they have recently been making moves.
One problem is Manchester City, who will be asking for a transfer that would see them recoup the £45m they paid to sign him from Monaco in 2017.
It’s not mentioned if Atlético will match that, but it’s suggested they won’t, meaning negotiations will be needed if the move is to happen.
