Ajax are interested tin signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Steven Bergwijn in the winter market, according to reports from the Netherlands.
The winger was at the Eredivisie side’s academy before joining PSV Eindhoven’s youth team in 2011. He made his first team debut with the latter and after spending three years there, he joined Spurs in January 2020.
A return to Amsterdam could be a possibility as De Telegraaf explain Erik ten Hag’s side have ‘officially indicated’ to Tottenham that they have interest in the 24-year-old. This was informed to the newspaper by ‘sources around’ the north London club.
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars wants to bring the former PSV man back to the Netherlands in January. David Neres’ sale would make it easier for them to sign Antonio Conte’s man.
Voetbal International have joined De Telegraaf to report the Dutch champions’ interest in Bergwijn.
According to VI, Ajax want to take the player away from the Premier League side and to do that, they have already expressed their interest in him to Tottenham. His possible arrival at Johan Cruyff Arena in January could be linked to Neres’ sale.
Bergwijn has been restricted to only 13 minutes of action from two matches after Conte arrived at Tottenham in November.
