On December 7th, we covered claims made from Spain which stated Thomas Tuchel has ‘insisted’ Chelsea sign Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé.

The 24-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the current season and the La Liga side have made no progress to tie him down to a new deal.

Mundo Deportivo state the Blues are ‘among those interested’ in the winger. The west London club’s coach has already managed Dembélé, when the two were at Borussia Dortmund.

The France international was rarely injured and excelled under the German’s orders. Their paths separated in 2017, when the World Cup winner forced a move to Barca. The report states the pair ‘could meet again next year’, at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona ‘suspect that Tuchel is behind’ interest in the former Dortmund man and therefore, the Champions League winners are ‘pushing’ to secure his services.

Chelsea are one of the firm contenders to win the Champions League this season. They are also in contention to win the Premier League title.

Mundo explain the English club’s record under the German shows the ‘strength of the project’ led by him at Chelsea.

Tuchel’s contract lasts until 2024 and his presence could see Dembélé’s agent favour the Blues over other English suitors.

There are various factors that favour Dembélé reuniting with Tuchel at Chelsea. Only time will tell whether or not he will end up at Stamford Bridge.
