Turkish newspaper Fotomac claim Trabzonspor have identified Aston Villa’s Wesley as a possible replacement for departed striker Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge left the club earlier this year after he was fined and suspended for breaching betting rules, and Fotomac claim the Turkish side are looking to fill the void by signing Aston Villa’s Brazilian striker.
Villa’s record signing joined the club from Club Brugge last summer for £22m but he suffered a serious knee injury in early January against Burnley, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Turkish newspaper claim Wesley is on Trabzonspor’s, who could be looking to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window, shortlist.
Karadeniz Firtinasi have also been linked with Wesley’s club teammate Marvelous Nakamba in recent weeks as they look to bring in a replacement for John Obi Mikel.
As often for Turkish clubs, there’s a concentration on teams who face Premier League relegation.
Wesley’s contract at Villa Park will expire in June 2024. The Brazilian had scored six goals in all competitions for Dean Smith’s side before his injury.
