On Tuesday, we brought you claims from Sky Italia that Real Madrid have given James Rodríguez time off until Thursday to seal a move to Everton.

These claims have been backed up in Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.

With a contract until 2021, the 29-year-old has asked to leave the La Liga winners this summer and Los Blancos have given him permission to skip training until tomorrow.

Real Madrid ‘hope and trust’ the Colombia international and his agent, Jorge Mendes, will utilise the time to complete a transfer to the Merseyside club.

It’s claimed the former AS Monaco man has agreed a three-year deal with the Toffees worth €4.5m per season.

The transfer fee, however, needs to be sorted out because Real Madrid are demanding €25m, while Everton are offering €20m. Mendes is trying to resolve the difference in order to get his client to Goodison Park ‘as soon as possible’.

The South American is ‘about to leave’ the Spanish giants, and Mundo states if the deal is sealed before Thursday, it’s much better for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
