With Sporting midfielder Matheus Pereira flying to sign for West Bromwich Albion last night, Portuguese newspapers bring more details on the move today.
This is really a deadline day story, because according to O Jogo, it was only now that the player got his Portuguese passport, and is being able to move to England as an EU citizen.
It’s claimed that the process had big help from Sporting, especially from club director Hugo Viana, with everyone trying to make the Brazilian’s move possible.
Newspaper A Bola says Matheus Pereira is joining West Brom on a one-year deal, with the Championship side paying around €1m for the loan.
They add that there will be a buying option for the Baggies to sign the player permanently for a fee of €10m.
This clause could actually be automatically triggered on two conditions: if the player makes a certain number of appearances for the club, or if West Brom get the promotion to the Premier League this season.
