Cenk Tosun managed 24 goals and six assists for Beşiktaş in the 2016/17 season and put together 14 goals and three assists in the first half of the following campaign.
His fine displays for the Turkish club convinced Everton to bring the striker to Goodison Park in January 2018.
Tosun struggled to replicate his Beşiktaş form for the Merseyside club as he’s managed 11 goals and six assists in all competitions so far.
The 30-year-old’s struggles saw the Toffees send him out on loan Crystal Palace and his old club in 2020 and 2021 respectively. He suffered a knee injury on his return to Istanbul and that cut short his temporary stay with the Black Eagles.
The Turkey international has regained full fitness, and since then he has been restricted to only 11 minutes of action for Everton in three matches this season.
Despite not managing to impress at Everton, the Süper Lig side have not forgotten about their former star frontman.
According to Fanatik, Beşiktaş are looking to strengthen three positions in the next window. Genoa’s Caleb Ekuban and Frank Lampard’s man are named as striker targets.
Regarding the Turkey international, it’s claimed a ‘quota has already been reserved’ for him., which will relate to wages.
Tosun can return to Beşiktaş on a free transfer next summer, since his contract at Everton expires in June.
