Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new striker in the summer came to an end when Spurs took Carlos Vinícius on loan from Benfica.
Prior to the Brazilian’s arrival, the north London club looked at several other players. This included Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bas Dost and his compatriot Wout Weghorst, who plays for VfL Wolfsburg.
In October, Dost confirmed the Premier League were ‘interested’ in his services in the last window.
Having arrived in Frankfurt from Sporting in 2019, the frontman could be on the move again in the winter market.
Reports coming out of the Dutch press on Wednesday stated the 31-year-old will join Club Brugge.
According to Het Belang van Limburg, the Jupiler Pro League side have an agreement with the player and are negotiating with Eintracht Frankfurt for the player’s signing.
The German club are looking to recover a ‘large part’ of the €7m invested in Dost’s signing 18 months ago.
It’s claimed Dost has been linked with Club Brugge for the second time. The first occasion was during the summer, when it was financially unfeasible for them to sign the attacker.
HBVL mention Tottenham in today’s report and state Dost ‘declined an offer’ from José Mourinho’s side to become a backup for Harry Kane. Club Brugge now seem to have a ‘better chance’ to sign the Bundesliga player.
It’s not clear whether Dost turning down an approach from Spurs is from the summer or for the January window.
