Having lost prominence at Leicester City in the second half of the 2020/21 term, Dennis Praet decided to join Torino on a season-long loan deal last summer.
The Serie A side have an option to make the midfielder’s stay permanent and they seem to be willing to exercise it, after he impressed for them this term.
On May 16th, Torino Granata explained the Italian club have given ‘a sort of ultimatum’ to Leicester City, that they want the player’s deal sorted out soon, so that they can have him for pre-season training.
According to La Stampa, relayed by Toro News, the Turin club ‘goes all-in’, and ‘try all out’, with the Foxes to retain the 27-year-old. He is ‘indispensable’ for Torino manager Ivan Jurić.
Torino were keen on making Josip Brekalo’s loan deal, from VfL Wolfsburg, permanent, but that seems unlikely now. With the money saved for Brekalo [€11m], the Italian club will have better conditions to buy the Belgium international, who will cost €15m.
Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘will also be able to take advantage’ and demand €15m in cash from Torino for their player. However, the latter would prefer to extend Praet’s loan deal for one more year and then buy him in the summer of 2023.
The answer here could be another loan with a €15m compulsory purchase clause in 2023.
