Angeliño should be a Manchester City player again shortly.
Monday morning saw claims from the fullback’s native Galicia about the Premier League champions using their €12m buyback clause. It certainly looked a well sourced story and probably came from someone close to the Spaniard.
Those claims then made their way to PSV’s local media in the Netherlands. Whilst De Telegraaf said they’d also been told a City return was on the cards, Eindhoven Dagblad called it all ‘speculative’.
Everyone soon fell in line, and now ED say the player is ‘on his way to Manchester City’. Maybe not literally, unless he’s already travelled.
NU Sports have spoken to Mark van Bommel, and he’s told them PSV have given Angeliño permission to speak with the English club, which will likely be because they’ve been informed the clause will be used.
PSV are already in preseason training, and Van Bommel wants replacements in for those leaving, but isn’t confident it will happen quickly: “If Angeliño leaves tomorrow, I don’t know if we will have a successor the day after tomorrow. If only it were like that. We are dealing with clubs, agents, money, players, it is not all that easy.”
