It appears that Juventus’ patience with Emre Can is about to run out, if Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday are to be believed.
After two months of will he, won’t he, the Serie A leaders have just about had enough of waiting for an answer, having offered the Liverpool midfielder a five year contract worth €5m/year, and are now setting him an ultimatum.
It’s very simple: “Give us an answer in the next 10 days, or we look elsewhere”.
Ever since it became clear Can wouldn’t be renewing at Anfield, the 24-year-old has been Juventus’ priority number one, and that remains the case, but they can’t stand around twiddling their thumbs forever.
Gazzetta explain that if he still hasn’t given them a reply come mid-April, then they’ll move on to their plan Bs, which are Lorenzo Pellegrini, Bryan Cristante or Adrien Rabiot.
In that list also features Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but he might end up being a tad too expensive at €100m when Can could be brought in on a free.
So, the German international now has a choice: make up his mind or lose a great opportunity and hope someone else comes along.
