Riyad Mahrez may have stayed on the bench during the game that gave Manchester City the Champions League title, but his season was more than enough to draw interest from other clubs.

French outlet Foot Mercato today features a story explaining how ‘coveted’ the 32-year-old still is, and brings new information about interest from the Middle East.

It’s claimed that following the moves that Saudi clubs have been making for stars lately, it’s now time for them to go after the Manchester City player.

According to Foot Mercato, Mahrez became a target for Al Ahli, who are ready to offer him a three-year contract.

It’s made clear that no official talks have started yet, with the Saudi side still to get in touch with Manchester City for the transfer.

Still, Al Ahli are said to be ‘ready to attack’, even though the claims of a €100m contract offer are said to be false.

Foot Mercato also has a say about Manchester City’s stance. It’s highlighted that Mahrez still has a contract with the club until 2025, and the treble winners will ‘hope to keep him’ in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
