Loaned for the rest of the season to Rangers, Ianis Hagi has been something of a revelation for the Scottish side under Steven Gerrard.
Scoring important goals throughout the first couple of months of his deal with the Ibrox based club, the Romania international has the press already talking about his future.
The general consensus is that Rangers would like to keep Hagi beyond the current season, whenever that ends, and have a clause in his deal that allows them to do just that if they can convince the player to follow suit.
However, for the time being, he remains contracted to Genk, who might have their own plans for the 22-year-old.
According to La Nouvelle Gazette, Dimitri de Condé, the Belgian club’s technical director, is following ‘with an interested eye the player’s evolution, whom he still believes in’.
There is a belief Hagi could still ‘shine’ with Genk going forward in a ‘more favourable context’.
If that doesn’t happen, at least they will get a ‘return on an interesting investment’.
Win, win.
