Sevilla would find it hard to ‘turn down’ a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Joel Veltman this summer if the opportunity to sign him arises.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say that despite the Spanish club not needing the Dutchman, they would be more than happy to sign him if they can.

Reports in England have linked Veltman with a move to Sevilla this summer, with his contract at Brighton due to expire and him yet to extend it.

While Roberto de Zerbi has made it clear he is confident the defender will be staying, that new deal has not been agreed as yet and that leads to speculation about his future.

Sevilla are one of the sides who’ve been named in England, but Estadio say that improving the defence is ‘not a priority’ at this moment in time.

That’s because Sevilla currently have eight centre-backs, two right-backs and two left-backs when Ludwig Augustinsson returns from injury so they’re hardly short of options.

However, despite that, they would be hard pressed to turn down ‘such a bargain’ as Veltman, who would be ‘difficult to refuse’ if the player were to offer himself to them.

At the moment that hasn’t happened, and he appears happy at Brighton, who have made it clear they are confident he’ll sign a new deal, but until that happens it seems Sevilla will be watching.
