As tends to be the case due to their more limited financial power compared to other leagues, Italian clubs are eyeing up a variety of potential free transfers, and that includes a West Ham United player.

Inter Milan are the ones interested in Tomas Soucek, with Corriere dello Sport the ones reporting the latest on the situation on Wednesday.

The Italian newspaper list the players the Serie A side are keeping tabs on in hope of sneaking their way into a free deal, with the Hammers midfielder firmly in there.

It’s explained Inter are ‘monitoring’ the situation surrounding the ‘key’ West Ham player, as they are rather impressed with his ‘imposing physique’.

The reason for that is they have ‘no profiles’ like him in their current squad, and he could be a breath of fresh air in the middle of their team, bullying players around.

However, it’s pointed out that there is a big issue in all this, which is that West Ham can ‘unilaterally’ trigger a clause in his current deal that will extend his contract by a year.

In doing so, that would close off ‘any possibility of an exit’, but, as we all know, until that happens, clubs can always dream.
