On Monday, the number of reports suggesting Leeds United were going to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona increased considerably.

It’s now reached the stage where it would be surprising if the deal didn’t go through, and Estadio Deportivo are already working out how much money Real Betis will get from the deal.

They state the club are ‘very aware’ of the fact the left-back is heading to Elland Road, and should the deal go through for the anticipated €15m, the Seville based club will get about €3m.

The outlet then goes on to break how they’ve worked that out, starting with the 18% of the next sale clause (it was 20% but Barcelona acquired two of those back), which equates to around €2.7m.

Then, on top of that, Betis will receive 2.5% ‘corresponding to transfer rights’, which is €375k.

That means that, in total, Manuel Pellegrini’s side will cash in €3,075,000 from the deal taking Firpo from Barcelona to Leeds, ‘which would be added to the slightly more than €18m from the previous transfer’.

So, in total, Betis will have received somewhere between €21-22m for Firpo, which is a very welcome sum for a cash strapped club.
