As long as the Lautaro Martínez saga continues at Inter, the Serie A side will be linked with big name strikers who could potentially replace him.
The most recurring has been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but a recent report in Corriere dello Sport suggested Antonio Conte was looking for a player capable of playing with his back to goal rather than someone looking to exploit space behind the defence.
That’s why Andrea Belotti was recently suggested as an option, but now we have someone who can do a bit of both: Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.
The young Brazilian has been a great success at the Etihad ever since arriving from Palmeiras back in 2017, but as long as Sergio Agüero is at the club, he will never be allowed to truly shine.
This has led to speculation of a move elsewhere, with Juventus a name often said to be interested.
However, thanks to Sport Mediaset, we can now add Inter to the list, as the Italian media outlet claim on Wednesday that the Serie A side have made ‘enquiries’ for two big name players recently.
The first is Achraf Hakimi, who is set to return to Real Madrid from his loan at Borussia Dortmund, and the second is Gabriel Jesus.
The latter is described as the ‘perfect name’ to take over from Martínez should the Argentine be sold, but ‘everything depends’ on the possibility of being able to spend the €70m necessary to take him away from Pep Guardiola.
At the end of the day, all they’ve done is ask, and you can’t really blame them, but whether Jesus would want to go is a whole different kettle of fish.
We’ll have to wait and see.
