On Monday, stories started to emerge about an apparent AS Roma interest in Matteo Darmian, as Monchi sets about trying to turn the Serie A side into one capable of causing Juventus a lot of problems in the near future.
The Manchester United defender was sporadically used by José Mourinho at the beginning of last season, until the Portuguese decided he was more useful down the left than Luke Shaw towards the end of the campaign.
Making 29 appearances in all competitions, the 27-year-old picked up just the one assist, and his situation is attracting some attention in his home country, with another team looking at him.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus, who are currently trying to somehow stop Dani Alves from forcing a move to Manchester City, have enquired to Manchester United about the availability of Matteo Darmian.
While there has been no indication the Red Devils are currently trying to sell the Italian defender, were a good offer to land on their desk, Mourinho’s lack of complete trust in Darmian would suggest they would at least consider it as long as they could find a replacement.
A certain Nelson Semedo, perhaps?
