Between December and January, there had been so many stories on Ajax’s efforts to sign Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham Hotspur that it sometimes even sounded like a saga.
The Dutch side ended up failing to reach an agreement with Spurs for the transfer, and it seems like in case they continue to be interested winger for a summer move, then they’ll have some competition.
That’s because according to claims from the Italian media, AC Milan are now interested in Bergwijn.
On Carlo Pellegatti’s Youtube Channel, journalist Carlo Laudisa (via Milan News) claims the Rossoneri emerged ‘in the last few hours’ as new candidates to land the 24-year-old.
Despite pointing out that Antonio Conte is now using Bergwijn more than in the first part of the season, it’s claimed that Tottenham could still sell the winger ‘at a favourable price’.
The Dutchman has three goals and two assists in 18 appearances for Spurs this season. In case Milan are indeed interested, that should be good news for the London side, who are attracting more bidders in a potential auction for the player.
