In April it was reported Kenny Tete had reached an agreement to join Besiktas this summer on a three year contract, arriving at the Turkish club as a free agent.
There was a slight problem there, because when Fulham signed the defender in 2020, they put him on a four year deal with an option for a further season.
In May, Fulham confirmed they’d triggered that option, and therefore Tete is contracted with them until June 2025.
Around the time of those Besiktas claims there were also reports of Ajax interest, with it claimed in the Netherlands that Tete would be keen on a return to Amsterdam. He came through the system there and graduated to the Ajax first team before moving to Lyon in 2017.
This week PSV have been credited with interest, but a line from De Telegraaf suggests they’re not altogether keen on paying Fulham any money for the 28-year-old.
According to the Dutch newspaper, the problem for PSV with Tete is that he ‘still has a running contract at the London club’.
That may be that then, although it seems clear that if there’s the chance of Tete being a free agent next year then he should have a list of clubs to choose from.
