After a disappointing start to life at Liverpool, Federico Chiesa is now starting to get regular minutes for the club.
He played the full 90 minutes of the Reds’ FA Cup game against Plymouth Argyle and also played 45 minutes against Accrington Stanley in the previous round of the competition.
While he played only seven minutes of the last three Premier League games, it’s clear that Arne Slot is starting to trust the Italian.
The winger rejected the chance to leave Liverpool in the winter transfer window, after also rejecting other clubs for them in the summer.
Journalist Ciro Venerato spoke to Rai 3 about Napoli’s interest in Chiesa and revealed that the Italy international left Antonio Conte’s side ‘disappointed’ with his rejection.
He said, as relayed by CalcioNapoli1926: “Napoli [were] also disappointed by Chiesa. He preferred a supporting role at Liverpool and not to be a leader [at Napoli].”
This suggests that Napoli were keen on making the 27-year-old a key part of their side.
Despite the lure of regular game time, Chiesa wants to prove himself at Liverpool even if he has made a slow start at Anfield.
