Since the start of the season, Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been linked to several Italian clubs.

As his contract with Spurs expires at the end of the campaign, Serie A sides have been monitoring the situation to sign him as a free agent in the summer.

There’s one specific club whose rumours have been growing lately, which is Napoli. A few outlets have been reporting their interest in the 32-year-old, and there’s a new one today.

Cronache di Napoli (via Calcio Napoli 24) describes Vertonghen today as a ‘temptation’ for the Italian side. Besides highlighting his international experience, the newspaper says the fact that he can play in several positions makes him wanted by several big clubs.

And that’s the big issue for Napoli, as the outlet mentions that Inter Milan are one of the sides who’ve been keen on signing Vertonghen as well.

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli is the one named by Calcio Napoli 24 as heading the operation, as he looks for a new defender and now has his eyes set on the Premier League.

So if all of Italy’s reports are to be believed, Vertonghen should have plenty of options in Serie A to choose from.
