This week, the Brazilian media has been full of stories about the future of Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura.
It all started with the player himself speaking to the local press and talking about his plans to move back to São Paulo one day. Then other reports listened to all the sides involved and brought updates on the chances of a move, which is highly unlikely at this stage.
It turns out that the Brazilian club have now commented on this rumour. Club director Carlos Belmonte had a word with journalists Eduardo Tironi and Arnaldo Ribeiro, and explained their interest in bringing the Tottenham player back to the Tricolor.
”There’s a decision by the board. At each window, we will consult Lucas Moura,” said Belmonte (via Gazeta Esportiva).
“He has a contract for one more year, but before the end of the year, Tottenham have to say whether they will continue with him for another season or not. If, by December, Tottenham decide that he will not renew for another year, his contract will expire in the middle of 2023.”
Not getting many starts under Antonio Conte, Lucas Moura had six goals and eight assists in 45 appearances for Tottenham this season. Recent claims from Brazil said he plans to change clubs in Europe, and only then think of a return to São Paulo.
