Everton midfielder Allan is not a target for Salernitana, despite suggestions to the contrary in England.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the Italian side are denying any interest in the Brazilian at this moment in time.
The newspaper explains that there had been ‘resounding rumours’ emerging from England regarding Allan, who entered into the final year of his contract at Goodison Park this summer.
They had stated that the 31-year-old is a target for Salernitana but CDS insist this is not the case.
That could be countered by a two-year deal so he could enjoy the benefits of the Decreto Crescita, the Italian tax ruling that allows anyone to enjoy income tax on only 50% of their earnings if they remain working in Italy for two years.
This has been adopted heavily by football clubs since its inception, allowing them to offer bigger wages and compete for players.
Salernitana could do the same with Allan by offering him a two-year deal and thus fixing the issue of his prohibitive wages. The Italian side, though, are insisting there are no negotiations underway for the Everton man for now.
That could change, of course, and Everton do need to do something given Allan will be a free agent next summer.
They can ill afford to lose him on a free given their finances so a sale would make sense this summer if they don’t intend to offer him a new deal.
