There are only five games until the end of Hellas Verona’s season, and the club still have no idea of what will happen to one of the most promising players in their squad.
Loaned by Manchester City last summer, Ivan Ilic was able to show his potential in his year in Italy, and apparently convinced the Serie A side of signing him permanently.
Gazzetta Dello Sport writes today that Hellas Verona ‘have decided’ they will trigger the option to get the midfielder on a €10m at the end of the season.
The problem is that they can’t control what will happen to him afterwards.
That’s because Manchester City have the right to buy him back for €20m, and following the good performances he’s had in Italy, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them doing that.
So Gazzetta writes that Ilic is ‘between Ivan Juric and Pep Guardiola’, and the important thing is that his opinion should be decisive on what will happen to him in the summer.
The 20-year-old is said to be ‘waiting’ before taking one of the options he could have on the table.
The only thing that seems certain for now is that Hellas Verona will do their best to keep him.
