At the weekend, claims started coming from the Netherlands about Tottenham Hotspur interest in Wout Weghorst.

Monday’s edition of De Telegraaf explained Spurs ‘want to recruit’ the 28-year-old to provide support to Harry Kane over the coming season. Such a move was seen as a dream for the player, and the Dutch newspaper said the transfer is ‘very realistic’.

An imminent meeting was suggested between those in charge at the Premier League club and Weghorst’s camp.

The claims seemed to be coming from someone close to the player, and problems were likely to arise when it came to dealing with VfL Wolfsburg.

Bild then reported the Bundesliga club would only listen to Tottenham or anyone else if they came forward with at least €35m.

Thursday’s edition of Kicker states Wolfsburg are ‘currently very relaxed’ about transfer chatter around their player. The German magazine explains the closer October 5th gets, and the close of the window, the less likely it is Weghorst will be sold.

A replacement would have to be brought in, and the price this time is put at €30m, and he’ll ‘hardly be available for less’.
