Towards the end of the January window, we relayed news from Italy that Sunderland rejected a Lazio offer for Jack Clarke.
Journalist Alfredo Pedullà had then stated the 23-year-old pushed to convince the Black Cats, but they never opened the door for his exit.
Fast forward to April and Corriere dello Sport report the Sunderland star ‘may come back into fashion’ after Lazio made an attempt in the winter market.
Felipe Anderson will leave the Serie A side after this season and Pedro could follow him through the exit door if there’s no renewal [his deal expires in June]. Therefore, Lazio would have to bring in at least two new attackers in the summer window.
The newspaper indicates the Italian club should return for players they tried signing in January, and only the Sunderland winger gets a mention.
Clarke has just over two years left on his deal and the report adds his asking price would be high for Lazio.
There’s no mention of any figures, but the Black Cats can maintain the tough stance, just like they did when Lazio made an offer earlier this year. In other words, Igor Tudor’s side will find it tough to convince Sunderland.
Clarke has managed 15 goals and four assists from 38 Championship games this season.
